Tiny Narrow House Hides A Stunning Beauty Inside

This splendid skinny home features an incredible architecture and beautiful landscaping.

Casa Picasso is a project that turns every square inch of available space into a functional one. Indoor-outdoor interactions serve as the foundation of the project’s design, and the use of regional materials and textures typically found in the Yucatan Peninsula provide a sense of identity.

Located in Merida’s historic downtown district, this 145 square meter house is an oasis in the city. Designed as a vacation house, this two bedroom home offers its owners refuge from cold New York winters.

This tiny simple house looks inconspicuous outside.

Throughout the home, light colors have been used to transform the small space into one that feels spacious and inviting. These light colors can even be found in the Polish white concrete floors, which keep the space feeling fresh. Vegetation and natural wood accents add to the feelings of relaxation and comfort.

Upon entrance, you will be welcomed by the gorgeous living room.

The white quartz kitchen counter is set to a back-splash of handmade pasta tiles. Opposite from the countertop, a small wooden table and two chairs sit facing the terrace and pool outside.

Outside the kitchen is a patio perfect for relaxation.

The main patio is surrounded by stone walls, lush vegetation and is completed with a chukum finish (a natural tree resin). Serving two purposes, it both creates the perfect atmosphere for the hot Yucatan days, and it introduces those who enter it to the outdoor-indoor relationship that is central to Casa Picasso´s design.

The overall landscape gives you vacation vibes.

Guiding to the back of the property, a wooden deck floats over the pool water in the direction of the master bedroom, where a vibrant hammock swings gracefully in greeting.

Beside the pool is a floating pathway to the masters bedroom.

The bathroom carries the same pasta tile design found throughout the house and its where a small garden completes the space integrating itself with the shower and the vanity.

Going back to the staircase, you will notice that it also serves as a small library. Hanging above the stairs, is a painting of the Mexican artist David Serrano.

The stairs leads to the second bedroom. With a closet, bathroom and small terrace that looks down to the pool, this room is where the house’s name originates, for inside an artwork piece from the artist Pablo Picasso is displayed.

The guest room also has a well-thought-out design.

Modern Single-Story House With Hip Roof Design

A very spacious single story house.

This contemporary single story house consists of three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a living space of 165 square meters.

This house design is typical for places that are prone to flood because it is elevated a few steps higher than the ground. This elevation is about one meter high, which does not only makes the appearance look more beautiful but provides protection from flooding.

The glass windows make the interior naturally bright because of the natural light coming from the sun. They are also a good source of ventilation.

As you enter from the main sliding door, you will be greeted by the combined living room, dining room, and kitchen areas.

These three areas are combined to maximize the floor area in the house.

From the kitchen, there is a back door leading to the other terrace. This terrace can be used as a service area, a dirty kitchen or a laundry area.

There are also three bedrooms in this house: A bigger one which can be used as a Master’s Bedroom as it has an ensuite toilet and bath as well as two smaller rooms for the other occupants of the house.
